How much does a workflow diagnostic investigation cost?

The Diagnostic Investigation is the first paid phase of a DECG engagement and is designed to determine whether meaningful workflow issues actually exist before a larger consulting effort begins.

Most investigations range between $1,500 and $5,000 depending on the scope of the workflow being examined. The cost is influenced by factors such as the number of departments involved, the complexity of the operational process, and the amount of observation or interview time required.

During this phase, DECG examines how the workflow currently operates through targeted interviews, workflow walkthroughs, and operational observation. The goal is to replace assumptions with real operational insight and identify where bottlenecks, delays, or handoff problems are occurring.

At the conclusion of the investigation, organizations receive a Diagnostic Findings Report that documents how the workflow currently operates, what areas were examined, and where operational inefficiencies or process breakdowns were identified.

This phase does not include solution design or implementation planning. Its purpose is to provide leadership with clear operational facts before deciding whether deeper improvement work is warranted.

Organizations can then decide whether to proceed with Efficiency Blueprint development or simply use the findings internally. This structure allows companies to gather meaningful operational insight without committing to a large consulting engagement upfront.
